Day 1: Explore Chengdu's cultural landmarks

Start your first day in Chengdu by visiting the famous attractions that make this city a cultural hub worth exploring. Begin with a visit to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding to witness the playful pandas up close and personal. Afterward, head to the Wuhou Shrine, a beautifully reconstructed Tang Dynasty structure that commemorates the famous strategist Zhuge Liang and the Emperor Liu Bei of Shu.

Next, head to Kuanzhai Alley, a historically preserved area bursting with local culture, music, food, and shopping. Don't forget to sample some Sichuan-style snacks and pick up a few souvenirs along the way.

In the evening, wrap up your first day by catching a performance at the famous Sichuan Opera Theater and witness the breath-taking mask-changing act. Enjoy the local cuisine in one of the amazing restaurants in the area.

Day 2: Feast on Chengdu's exotic cuisine

No trip to Chengdu is complete without indulging in the city's scrumptious food scene. Start the day off by trying the famous Sichuan-style breakfast, Dan Dan noodles, at any of the local breakfast shops.

Afterward, head to Chunxi Road, the busiest commercial hub in Chengdu. Here, try some hot pot - a traditional spicy Chinese dish that originated in Sichuan. Other must-try local delicacies include kung pao chicken, twice-cooked pork, and mapo tofu.

Chengdu is also renowned for its tea culture. Stop by a tea house in People's Park or Wangjianglou Park to savor the best tea blends, made using the local organic tea leaves.

In the evening, experience the Chengdu nightlife by visiting the Jinli Old Street. Lined with shops, small restaurants, and bars, this street offers remarkable and unforgettable experiences each step of the way.

Day 3: Venture outside the city

On your final day in Chengdu, venture outside the city to visit the Leshan Giant Buddha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Great Buddha, carved out of a cliff face overlooking the river, is a testament to the brilliant engineering and architectural abilities of the Tang Dynasty.

After visiting Leshan, head to the picturesque Dujiangyan Irrigation System, an ancient water conservation project built in 256 BC that still irrigates over 5,300 square kilometers of fertile farmland today. The system is also a significant part of the local culture and plays an important role in the city's tourism industry.

Wrap up your day by returning to Chengdu and enjoying one final meal at any of the local eateries before bidding goodbye to the city that has both surpassed your expectations and left you wishing for more.
