Day 1: Exploring the City

On your first day in Chongqing, start off by visiting the city's iconic landmarks! Head to Hongya Cave, a multi-level pagoda-style building that overlooks the Yangtze River. Explore the winding streets and bridges filled with shops, cafes, and restaurants. Then, take a stroll down Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street to see the bustling shopping district of the city. The street is lined with high-end shopping malls, department stores, and street food vendors!

When you're feeling hungry, head to a nearby hot pot restaurant to taste the famous Chongqing hot pot. Many restaurants offer the option of spicy or non-spicy hot pot, so make sure to choose the level of spiciness you can handle!

After lunch, head to Ciqikou Ancient Town, a restored ancient village that dates back to the Ming Dynasty. Here, you can walk through the narrow alleys and see the traditional architecture. Finish off your day by taking a night cruise along the Yangtze River and soak up the beautiful city skyline!

Day 2: Day Trip to Wulong

On your second day in Chongqing, venture out of the city and head to Wulong County to see the natural wonders. The county is famous for its karst landscape and stunning scenery. Book a day tour or hire a private driver to take you to the Three Natural Bridges, a UNESCO World Heritage site that features three natural limestone bridges surrounded by lush forests and waterfalls.

After exploring the bridges, take a short hike to the Fairy Mountain National Forest Park. The park features unique rock formations and hiking trails that lead to breathtaking views of the surrounding areas. Continue your adventure by visiting the Furong Cave, one of the largest and most beautiful karst caves in China.

Return to Chongqing in the evening and try some local street food for dinner. Be sure to try the famous Chuan Chuan Xiang (skewered meat and vegetables) or Jianbing (a type of Chinese crepe filled with egg and different types of sauce).

Day 3: Panda Breeding and City Views

Start your day off by visiting the Chongqing Zoo to see the adorable giant pandas! The zoo is home to more than 80 giant pandas and is one of the most important panda breeding centers in the world. Don't forget to watch the pandas playing, eating, and sleeping.

After visiting the pandas, head to the People's Liberation Monument. The monument is a symbol of the city's liberation from the Kuomintang forces and represents the spirit of the Chinese revolution. Take the elevator to the top of the monument where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the city.

Next, visit the Chaotianmen Square, a bustling area that connects to the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. Here you can see the famous Chaotianmen Bridge, which is one of the longest arch bridges in the world. Finish your day by visiting the Flying Tigers Historical Museum, which depicts the history of the Flying Tigers, a volunteer group of American pilots who helped the Chinese fight against Japan during World War II.

Day 4: Local Experiences

Spend your last day in Chongqing experiencing the local culture. Start your day by heading to a local park to see Chongqing's famous square dancing phenomenon. Thousands of locals gather in the parks to dance, sing, and socialize with others. You can also join in the fun if you're feeling adventurous!

After the dancing, visit a traditional teahouse to enjoy a cup of tea and soak up the relaxing atmosphere. The local teahouses are decorated with traditional Chinese furniture and often feature live traditional music performances.

In the evening, head to Nanbin Road to see the beautiful city lights and enjoy some snack foods from the street vendors. Make sure to try the spicy crayfish or rice-balls (glutinous rice with different fillings!). Finish off your trip with a visit to a local bar or club to experience the night life in Chongqing.
