Day 1: Arrival and Exploring the Ancient City Wall

Once you arrive in Xi’an, take some time to settle into your accommodation before heading out to explore the ancient city wall. At a height of 12 meters and a circumference of 13.74 kilometers, the city wall is an impressive structure that dates back to the Ming Dynasty. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a towering structure that was built in the 7th century to house Buddhist sutras and other sacred treasures. Today, it’s a popular tourist attraction and pilgrimage site. After exploring the pagoda, head to the nearby Shaanxi History Museum, which tells the story of the region’s rich history and culture through a range of exhibits. Make sure to allow plenty of time to see everything in this expansive museum.

Day 5: Foodie Heaven at the Bell and Drum Towers

The Bell and Drum Towers are two iconic landmarks in Xi’an that have stood for centuries. In the evening, the surrounding area comes alive with food vendors selling all kinds of delicious street food. This is the perfect opportunity to try some of Xi’an’s famous dishes, such as roujiamo (meat sandwiches) and biangbiang noodles. Make sure to try some of the local snacks too, like huluobo (radish pastries) and liangpi (cold noodles).
